You know that kid in your classroom? The one who couldn’t stop making noises, faces, and always had something to say? Yeah… that was Ron.

His mom still says he was the most oppositional kid she ever met—and she had no idea what to do with him. He got in trouble every single day

But Ron wasn’t trying to be disruptive. He was trying to connect. He wanted to be seen, to make people laugh, to feel like he mattered.

Fast forward and not much has changed—except now, he’s using that same energy to light up rooms full of early childhood educators!

From Classroom Disruption to Classroom Transformation

Ron didn’t “grow out of it”—he grew into it. Today, he’s the creative force behind UNprofessional Development (UNPD), where professional development feels less like a meeting and more like a jam session.

He brings a background in professional wrestling, comedy, improv, martial arts, and yoga—and somehow makes it all work together. But it’s not about gimmicks. It’s about helping teachers feel alive in their work again and lead with joy.

He Gets It—Because He Was That Kid

When Ron sees a kid bouncing in their seat or blurting out in class, he doesn’t see a problem. He sees a mirror. He understands that some kids just need to be seen and heard and will look for that attention however they can get it.

He Comes From Experience

He holds a Master of Education and a B.S. in Business—because hey, if you’re going to confirm school is BS, you might as well get those degrees to make it look legit to the normies.

Ron spent years teaching martial arts at a dojo, where he had to manage high-energy kids channel their wildness into something productive. That experience taught him a lot about leadership, self-control, and learning about behavior through real-life situations. This is the education he appricates the most.

Shortly after leaving the dojo, he was asked at a kid’s birthday party he was performing if he had a curriculm, which he didn’t…yet! Overnight, Ron created what came to be known as YOGARATE — a blend of Yoga and Martial arts for preschoolers. This lead to 15 years of running enrichment programs in preschools like Goddard and Kiddie Acamedy with over 15 instructors in 20 schools.

A Star is Born

Over those 15 years and a gazillion YOGARATE classes, Ron basically stumbled upon Behavior Mastery. It wasn’t some textbook thing; it came from trying stuff out and seeing what actually worked with real kids. He figured out how to grab and keep their attention by giving them what they need and just talking to them like humans.

It was so effective that schools started to ask Ron to teach their teachers how he got the kids to behave so well! Over the years he has now perfected his trainings to teach his valuable lessons and frameworks in a fun and engaging way!

What You’ll Get With Ron

Ron’s not here to bore you with PowerPoint slides or recycled buzzwords. If that’s your jam, then you might want to look elsewhere. But if you’re ready to rediscover why you got into teaching—then buckle up, because this is going to be unlike any PD you’ve ever had.

  • Real Talk. No jargon, no fluff. Just straight-up strategies that’ll actually make a difference in your classroom tomorrow.
  • Laughter. A whole lot of it. Because when you’re laughing, you’re learning. And trust us, you’ll be laughing.
  • Movement. No, you don’t have to sit still for hours. Ron gets it. Your body and brain need to move if you’re going to stay engaged. Expect games, exercises, and a little yoga (yes, even for the adults).
  • Pop Culture. Movie clips, TV shows, music—because, believe it or not, it actually belongs in professional development. And it keeps things interesting.
  • A Fresh Look at Behavior. Forget the old “control the class” mentality. Ron’s approach? Understand the behavior, connect with the kids, and maybe have a little fun while you’re at it.
